Emma Baker

Counselling Psychologist

Whether you’re navigating a difficult patch in your relationship, trying to make sense of patterns that keep showing up, or dealing with something you’ve never spoken about before, I aim to create a space that feels safe, honest, and genuinely collaborative. No judgement, just curiosity and compassion.

I’m originally from the UK and have been based in Dubai for several years. I hold an MSc in Psychology from the University of Exeter and am trained in integrative counselling and psychotherapy, with experience delivering therapy through NHS Talking Therapies services and in private practice. I’ve also recently completed specialist training in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy through the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), which deepened my focus on the area I’m most passionate about – how we connect, communicate, and relate to the people who matter most to us.

I work with both individuals and couples. Many of my clients come to me with concerns around communication, conflict, desire, or intimacy – often in the context of a life transition, a breach of trust, or a sense that something has shifted. Others are working through a breakup, exploring patterns in how they approach dating and relationships, or wanting to invest in strengthening what they already have. I also support men and women through experiences that can feel harder to talk about: psychosexual difficulties such as performance anxiety or avoidance, the emotional impact of fertility challenges or menopause, and the effects of past trauma. I’m comfortable working with complexity, and I understand that what brings someone to therapy rarely fits into a neat box.

Beyond relationships, I work with clients on anxiety, low mood, stress, and self-esteem – including the pressures that come with work, career transitions, and navigating life in a new country. I’m interested in how all of our relationships shape us: with partners, with family, with colleagues, and with ourselves.

My path into psychology wasn’t a traditional one. I spent over a decade in corporate environments before re-training, and that background gives me a genuine understanding of workplace stress, professional identity, and the toll that high-pressure roles can take on our personal lives. During my training I also worked alongside neurodiverse children and young people, which deepened my understanding of emotional regulation and how early experiences shape the way we relate as adults.

My approach is integrative, drawing on psychodynamic, attachment-based, and relational models. In practice, this means we’ll explore how past experiences might be shaping present patterns – while also working together on building new, more authentic ways of relating and communicating. I believe therapy works best when it’s both reflective and active: a space for real insight, but also for meaningful, tangible change.
