Dr. Nakita O’Leary

Clinical Psychologist

With over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health, my clinical expertise spans a broad spectrum of settings. I have worked within the UK’s NHS, schools, and private practice, before relocating to Dubai in January 2019. Since then, I have continued to support adolescents, adults, families, and groups from diverse backgrounds, helping them navigate a wide range of challenges related to mental health, emotional well-being, life circumstances, and interpersonal relationships.
As a clinical psychologist, I am trained in a variety of evidence-based therapies, and I draw upon an integrative approach to best meet the unique needs of each client. These include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, Reflective Parenting, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Systemic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Yoga.

I tailor my therapeutic approach to each individual, ensuring a personalised experience that aligns with their preferences, psychological needs, goals, and interpersonal style. I am deeply committed to fostering a therapeutic space where clients feel safe, supported, and free from judgement. My aim is to help clients cultivate a sense of peace, self-acceptance, and a deeper connection to both themselves and others, as well as to support them to accomplish their personal goals for therapy—outcomes I believe are achievable through our collaborative therapeutic process.

In addition to my clinical practice, I have a strong interest in holistic psychology, cultural competence, diversity, and equality. I strive to integrate these values into my work, recognising the profound influence that culture can have on psychological experiences. I also enjoy sharing knowledge and insights through talks, workshops, and events, furthering my mission to help empower individuals and communities with psychological understanding and tools for growth and resilience.
