I was born and raised in Egypt, where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from Cairo’s Kasr Alainy School of Medicine, followed by the Arab Board Fellowship in Psychiatry.
For the past 5 years, I have been working as a Specialist Psychiatrist in Cairo, Egypt, in my private practice, in addition to several refugee servicing NGOs like Terres des hommes, Doctors Without Borders and St. Andrew’s church. I believe this experience gave me a unique perspective on how mental illness changes across social and physical borders.
I am specialised in general adult psychiatry and helping clients with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar affective disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder and phobias. I work with age groups starting from adolescents and above, and I take a special, personal interest in cases of social anxiety and psychosis.
The cornerstone of my practice has been integrating medications and therapeutic practices and tailoring the approach to my patients.
With a passion to help others, I worked extensively with trauma cases and I also provided mental health support for the refugee communities in international, non-profit organizations, especially to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence.
As a psychiatrist, my vision is to not only help those struggling feel less alone, but to also advocate and spread awareness around mental health.
