When I look back at my personal and professional journey, I feel immense gratitude toward my mentors, patients and colleagues. From my training in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and the technical skills I picked up during my trips to the United Kingdom and Europe to having my Freudian Analytical Therapy and practice in Italy and Dubai, I have learned from every experience in life.
Having been oriented by Evidence-Based Medicine practices, integrating medications and therapeutic practices has been part of my vision since I began my training. I also come across patients who seek to understand my process. I enjoy involving them in the process, which helps me gain their perspective on their condition and serve them more meaningfully and effectively. Throughout the 20 years of my practice, I have always tried to be a companion to my patients.
I enjoy working with women through their journey, using the access a psychotherapist has to their emotional experiences along with the medical approach developed for the reproductive cycle. Working with women has helped shift my scientific interest toward Integrative Medicine, an integrative and evidence-based approach in Psychiatry that emphasises the importance of the relationship between a practitioner and a patient and focuses on the whole person, using appropriate therapeutic and lifestyle approaches and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.
I feel privileged to be practising at a multidisciplinary facility in Dubai over the past five years, an experience that has shaped my views and brought me in touch with different cultures and backgrounds that are united by common attributes of human nature and struggles.
As a psychiatrist, I feel blessed to be able to help people who are going through a phase in life when their mind and body have an intense response to stress by constantly striving to view, decode and interpret their experiences, and help them find meaning and relief from the pain.
